Last Day of 2013

Last day of 2013, and we made it through another year.  We have Brayden with us, but he's going to go off to play with Josie this afternoon.  Suzanne is to pick him up this morning.

Rose and Shirley and I have been watching season one of "Downtown Abbey."  Shirley ordered the series on DVDs from Amazon.   We watch an episode each evening after dinner and have become truly fascinated.  We have our favorite characters and likes and dislikes.  That's probably what we'll do tonight.  That is - watch another episode to usher in the New Year.

A staff nurse from Barnes Jewish Home Health just left.  She will come back again next week  for a final visit.  I missed a call from the Home Healthy physical therapy department.   Oops, I called them back and they have a therapist coming to see me this afternoon.  I keep busy for someone who seldom leaves the house.

Brayden has already announced that on his next visit he wants to go back to Skyzone, a wonderful play land for kids.  Since he will no doubt be back around his 11th birthday (February 12), you can bet he will get his wish.

Today is Catrina Abbott King's birthday.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CATRINA!!!!

The Family Dinner

We had a Family Dinner last night at the Macaroni Bar and Grill with Margaret, Sabrina and Dave, Rose and Shirley, Brett and Madison his girlfriend, Chris, Brayden, and myself.  It was a long enjoyable evening.  The food and company were both to be bragged on.  At first the service seemed a bit slow but we decided that maybe we were just hungry.  We had our leftovers for lunch today.

Family Dinner

We interviewed the candidate for helper/companion yesterday, and she and I may try a few days at the lake next week.  She seems like a very good prospect except she won't be  available for schooldays.  I will need some one for those days during the year.  She  watches a nephew who has Downs Syndron during the school year anytime school is in session and must be in St. Louis then.   I'd still like to be there more, so I'd still like to find another helper/companion.

Brayden stayed here in St. Louis with us but spent the night with the Hollensbes last night.  I was in trouble with Rose and Shirley for allowing him to go.  Rose and I picked him up this afternoon.

Several of us are going out to dinner--some of the Abbotts, Chris and Shelly, Rose and Shirley, and Brayden and I.  We will post pictures later.

Interview

We're getting to host Brayden for a few days starting this afternoon. Beth is going to Kansas City to spend a few days with her grandmother and will drop him off en route this afternoon.  He kept changing his mind yesterday, but I haven't heard so I assume they are on their way.

Chris took me out to dinner last night.  I've been eating out a lot lately.  I went to Houlihan's with Dave and Liz and The Highlander with Chris one night and J Buck's with the family for Jalen's sixteenth birthday and Lester's last night.  We're planning a family dinner with some of the Abbotts tomorrow night.  I'm not sure which of the Abbotts can come but we will take pictures and post them.

I'm interviewing a potential helper/companion this afternoon.  Linda can't come back anymore until February and her sister in law is too expensive.  Kay Berry and I are going to talk after New Years.  I'm eager to get back down to the lake and really miss being there even in cold weather.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Merry Christmas.  It's going to be quiet around here today after the weekend.  We opened our gifts last night so we'll just rest up today.  I talked to Scott yesterday evening.  He wanted to open gifts then but the rest of the family wanted to wait for Santa.  It's an hour later in Louisville so Santa may have been there already.  Chris and Shelly were spending the evening last night with her mother and then he was on call for work.  It's very cold here in Missouri, so I hope he didn't have to leave his warm house.

Houlihan's

I'm not sure I can spell this word but last night was a wonderful evening of reminisicing and good food too.  Dave and Liz Prange took me to Houlihan's where we had been before but just couldn't remember the name of the place, so it was difficult to find with their GPS.  We found it and it was right where Dave thought but just had a different name.  Liz is still working for GMAC which is now Ally.  They've closed their St. Louis offices and she commutes weekly to Chicago.  Liz and Dave have only one grandchild and his name is also Brayden.  That's the only two Braydens I've ever heard of.  Dave also had just heard the name once.

It's going to be very quiet for Christmas after the weekend.  I much prefer the weekend.  I'm the only one up this morning and I haven't even checked the forecast, but I'm sure it's cold.
