More news 12/31/14

I went to therapy and am back already. Marnett took me and waited patiently for an hour. The therapists don't know whether to call me Martha or Sue so one of them ask me which I preferred. I explained that as a small child my family called me Sue but when I started school my name was really Martha Sue and I've called both ever since. I'm also answering to Martha and Sue and Mom and Granny and Aunt Sue. I almost forgot Sis. That too.

Chris called and invited me out for a brisket dinner, and he will pick me up around five. I'm sure he's not the one cooking it. Then I found out we're getting Brayden tomorrow and he will to stay until Sunday. Arrangements for travel have been made but I'm not sure what they are now. Jalen probably has to work. I also don't know what Scott and Beth are doing for the holiday. Brayden wants to spend one night with Chris and Shelly.

I probably won't post again this year. It might a 2015 update before I have anything else to say.

New Year''s Eve

New Year's Eve and it's cold outside. I haven't been out but I am going to therapy this afternoon. Marnett is going to come pretty soon to assist me with showering and doing the exer-cycle. Rose just got up and put the coffee on to perk. Besides going to therapy on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, I'm still riding the bike 20 minutes a day and other exercises here at home. I don't think we have any plans the evening, and I don't know what Rose and Shirley have going for the rest of the day.

It was so nice hearing from Linda. Marnett has three school-age children, and her husband loves to fish. Marnett and I decided we could also work out something her family would all enjoy and I could afford for a trip to the lake. There would be six of us, so transportation is a question.

I haven't been to the lake house sine July 23, and I'm really eager to get down there. Does anyone want to go-even for a day or just over night? Linda, I want you to make me some of the FamousBarr French Soup when we do go..

Therapy and Weekend (late publishing)

Our company left last night and texted Shirley when they arrived home safely. It was a very short stay but a very nice one. The five of us had dinner at a place called Brios'. Shirley had made reservations and had specified which table we wanted. We wanted a private room but it wasn't available so she settled for a corner table. It was also taken! We waited just a few minutes and got that table and had a wonderful meal. We then came back to the house and visited. The visit was just too short.

I had therapy and also did the exercycle. I had a lovely email from Linda Orso and am hoping she and I (or someone else and I) can get to the lake house very soon.

I did 800 plus steps per the fit bit today. I had some assistance from the therapist.

Update from Sue

Our company arrived Friday evening after dinner. They had fine weather for their travel from Bloomington, Indiana, (unlike last year when they encountered an ice storm when they visited over the holidays). Again I'm forwarding this for Rose to post to the Gazette.

We loved the pictures she posted of Joe and family (snitched from FaceBook)--and other pictures too. Pete hasn't called with his usual Saturday morning call, and just as I wrote that the phone rang and it was Pete and Janet. It's cold in Idaho right now,

It looks overcast outside here today though I haven't looked at the forecast. We plan on going out for dinner tonight so I'll check and see what's predicted. As Brayden says "They're not always right, you know."

Christmas Update

Again, this is Rose, posting for Sue who is having trouble opening The Gazette on her computer:

"Merry Christmas, Everyone We opened our gifts last night and slept in this morning. I don't have therapy today, Christmas Day, but will tomorrow. Rose still practices the guitar every day but has cut back her lessons to one per month.. Shelly has been sick with the flu all week. I haven't yet heard how she is today. I'm sure Scott and Beth and the boys are up since they are an hour ahead.

It's a bright sunshiny day here so I'm sure the blue lights, solar-powered, will glow tonight. We're to have more company tomorrow, friends of Shirley's, who will stay until Sunday.

Marnett came as usual yesterday and took me to therapy. She brought some really thoughtful gifts for us three old ladies. She found a lap desk for my laptop computer, a miniature well pump for Shirley's sand tray collection, and a blanket throw for Rose as Rose is always cold.

Marnett has three children but always seems to come through for us when we need her. She is quite a love.

Update from Sue

Sue could not access the blog due to a computer glitch so e-mailed me the following update:

"Christmas has kept us too busy to update the Gazette, but maybe we will get caught up now. I've had physical therapy for the past two days. The therapists are proud of the gains I'm making. I will go back on Friday. I also do some exercises here at home with Marnett. She is the one who takes me to therapy just a few blocks from home.

It's been a hectic week, Rose and Shirley have had a lot of clients. We miss Scott and Beth and the boys but hope to see Chris and Shelly over the next few days. Perhaps we will get Brayden for a few days over his Christmas break.

HAPPY 17TH BIRTHDAY, JALEN

We are extremely proud of Jalen. He has a 4.0 GPA through the middle of his 11th grade and that with accelerated classes. He is a superb artist and musician. He has a part-time job at Kroger. He is a fine driver, very responsible. And he is a wonderful big brother.
