Colorado Wedding

I'm back in St. Louis now and Janet has sent  the  correct details on their wedding.  I just thought I remembered.  They were married in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Walsenburg, CO.  It was  a half way point between Idaho where Janet was teaching and Pete was working from.  Bernie and Maudie and Mother went from Marshfield and janet's parents and brother Gene came from Idaho Falls, ID.  They did go to Branson on their honeymoon and stopped in Marshfield on their trip.  Their stopping by Marshfield is probably the reason I thought I remembered the occasion.

This Family Gazette has settled a lot of arguments and anytime we have differences, please feel free to let us know.

I don't know how many of you remember Jack Delaney. an old friend I worked with at Midwest Recovery.  He sang Amazing Grace at Denny's funeral.  He had been in an extended care facility in Illinois for several years.  He died on May 20, and his body was cremated.  His daughter will let us know when the service will be held.

Wedding in Colorado

I had that all wrong.  Pete and Janet got married in Colorado.  Rose and Pete both corrected me.  Janet is going to email and give me the details.  Also, I'm not any fatter.  I weighed and weighed the same.  My pants were smaller.

Pete and Janet's 57th Anniversary

I'm at the lake this morning this morning and haven't talked to Pete or Rose but wanted to   put in the 57th anniversary of Pete and Janet's marriage.  They got married at Holy Trinity Parish in Marshfield and I can remember the occasion.  They emailed me yesterday and said they are going out for dinner to celebrate.

I'm Feeling Fat

Waiting for my first cup of coffee.  Not usually a long wait.  Looks like its going to be a beautiful day today and the forecast for the weekend looks good.  I stayed awake long enough last night to see the Cardinals lose again.  I guess Chris and I can listen to them with some hope on our way down to the  lake tonight.

Linda stopped by yesterday morning to drop of some Shaklee products and a visit.  She is always a pure delight.  My helper from Martha's Hands' was here, and I've been trying to increase the amount of exercise I do daily.  I could count the number of deep knee bends and there's a timer on the bike but I was certain I was walking more.  Sometimes my Fitbit would register and sometimes it wouldn't.  Rose and I noticed this the night before.  Marnet (that's my helper's name) figured out that by attaching it to my pant's leg in a plastic bad, it registers.  The problem was - my pants were too tight!  Shirley suggested that I should buy bigger pants.  I actually am walking more.  I weigh the same but am going to watch the goodies a little closer.  It's hard to resist the stuff Shirley brings from Whole Foods on Wednesdays but it never goes to waste.

Plans for the Day

Trying to be quiet and not wake Rose and Shirley this morning.  They appreciate my being quiet in the mornings.  Linda is coming by later this morning to bring some Shaklee products.  It will be nice to see her.  I'm sure we will talk about the Cardinals.  Margaret is going to a Cardinal game sometime soon.  Her kids are taking her.  I'll hopefully have more details later.  She and Linda and I are all big fans.

I've been trying to up my exercise amount every day.  It seemed I was getting more walking in, but my FitBit wasn't registering the increase.  Rose and I checked last night and it wasn't.  We'll check again today.  It's too hot to walk outside.  The HHA from Martha's Hands Agency is here for 4 hours a day when I'm home.  They are expensive but helpful and give Rose and Shirley client time.

I've been watching for humming birds this morning but haven't seen one yet.  Mad Dog keeps them fed and the plants watered at the lake while I'm gone.  I tried to call him yesterday and he didn't answer.  He doesn't have an answering machine but usually calls me right back as he does have caller ID.  His Dad has been sick.  I'll try again today to check in with them.

Back to the Lake on Friday

I'm learning about Facebook (Brayden gave me some help while I was in Kentucky), and find I have lots of friends on there.  I think I know now how to correspond with them.  I'm going to work on that today.

My helper comes today at 11 AM.  My goal is to walk more steps today than I did yesterday.  I do ride the exer-cycle 20 minutes daily and may increase that soon.   I step\hop and deep\knee bend until I completely tire and then rest a bit and do it again.

She also fixes my lunch and does anything I ask her to do.

Chris and I are going back to the lake Friday.  It will be interesting to see which way he goes - 64 or 70.  Scott won't listen to me - He thinks the GPS route (70) is faster and I KNOW the 64 route is faster.  He believes the GPS and not his mother.  I remember when Janet told me what she like about the GPS was that she could turn it off.  I didn't know how to turn this one off.

Home After Holiday

It was a great weekend with lots of company and boating and wave running. It was just over too soon. We were the last to get there Friday, and I'm not sure what time everyone else went to bed.  I visited for a few minutes and retired.  Mad Dog had watered the plants and fed the humming birds in my absence, and I found out that humming birds even eat at night.  Scott says there are no humming birds in Kentucky and Groves, who used to live there, vouched for that.  He wouldn't let me get him a humming bird feeder.  There are lots of them in Missouri, especially around the lake.

Scott and Beth got a trip to Mexico for a wedding gift and he just called for his father's DOB and place of birth for applying for his passport.  We're looking forward to keeping the boys while they're gone.

Jalen and Dillon and Jake were all old enough and legal to ride (had their licenses} or drive the wave runner and did a good job.  Doug and Jalen showed his two friends the basics after they had taken the manual test, so they knew the rules.  All of them liked tubing and the boat.  Most everyone went to Jolly Roger's Sunday afternoon.  It's a family restaurant.  I chose not to go.  Brayden was concerned about going to a "bar", but Josie was going and they all went in the boat, so he went.

Brayden caught five fish, the biggest one and the smallest one caught.  Doug and I were sitting on the deck when Josie and Brayden were down at the boat dock fishing.  I asked Doug what would they do if they caught one and he said "Probably call me."  About that time they started yelling.  "Doug,  Dad!"  We thought they had one.  Doug hustled down there only to find they'd broken a pole.  Jalen says he's going to learn to clean them next time.

I'll write more today.  Talked to Pete on Saturday.  Everything is good in Idaho.

Memorial Day at the Lake

I got back to the lake last night after a long drive for Scott and Beth. We had to bring two cars since we had seven people but Jalen is old enough to help with some of the driving. He's 16 and I don't think he seemed to mind. I can still remember when Pete let me drive. He brought two friends with him. Doug, Suzanne, Josie, Lucas, Groves, and Mad Dog were already here when we arrived. The teenagers went to the pool when we got here and I went to bed. I don't know what the rest of them went to bed. I didn't hear a thing. Mad Dog watered the plants and fed the humming birds while I was gone. Doug says he would have brought a shotgun if he'd known about the humming birds swarming. Scott says there are no humming birds in Kentucky and wouldn't get a feeder. The plants are beautiful and it's raining this morning which is good for them but bad for the kids. I've already talked to Rose and to Pete this morning. Nothing new with them. Pete hadn't talked with Joe yet.

Home Early From Sedona

Rose and Shirley changed their plans and returned early to Missouri. Rose and I check in on our cell phones every morning and I left my phone in Scott's car last night. She overslept and I emailed her twice before she responded. Rose and Shirley were in no danger but the smoke and smell was so bad they weren't having a good time. Now with E Coli in Idaho and Humus in Missouri, there are other things to worry about. Brayden was the pitcher last night's game and though his game lost he did very well, he was very well. He walked twice and grounded out to the first baseman once. We got to keep him overnight and Beth took him to school early, he didn't seem to mind. We're going to have a long ride today so I think Scott is going to try to come home early to take a nap. I believe we will be the last to arrive.

Back to Missouri Tommorow

I thought Scott and Brayden were going to have an evening off from baseball but as it turned out they had team pictures last night. I don't know any of the kids by name but can pick them them out by number. Brayden is always number 5 which was Albert Puhols number when he was a Cardinal and is still Brayden's favorite player even though he's not a Cardinal. We have another game tonight. Life revolves around baseball here. I'm not sure what he's decided about playing on the All Star Team and I'm trying not to influence him. We want to see lots of him. I believe he has to decide by tomorrow. Beth had dinner ready as soon as we got home from pictures yesterday. We're leaving for the lake as soon as they get home tomorrow. Mad Dog will have the air conditioner on if we need it. Suzanne will shop for Saturday morning breakfast and then some one will shop later for more groceries. Everyone will probably arrive before we do. Tristan can't come but Jalen is bringing two friends. I talk to Rose every morning and she says the fires aren't near her but the smoke is visible and they can smell it. I've been watching for the information of it on the news channels. We get to keep Brayden tonight but he just goes to school early and Beth takes him on her way to a different school. He doesn't seem to mind getting there early. He and Jalen are both straight A students. Their Dad is so proud of them. They come right in from school and do their homework without being told.

Wednesday in Louisville

It's a nice and a warm day in Louisville. Scott and Brayden have a day off from baseball - the first one since I've been here. Ding and Drew went to the Cardinal game last game and saw them win. I'm not surprised. My caretaker is here and I've talked to Rose. She was going to hike today. I'm sure she was also practicing her guitar. I think Shirley is over her bout of home sick. They are liking Sedona. I don't really have any news but wanted to update. Jalen took some pictures at Brayden's game last night that he will have to email to Rose that she will post later. Brayden walked twice but scored two runs and played a great shortstop.

As you may know, I have been quite busy lately attempting to get things together so that I can student teach in the winter of 2015.  My current plan is to stay in Ellensburg for the summer to get a few extra classes finished and make my way to student teaching on schedule.  This being my last few quarters, I've been exceptionally busy and haven't had much time for anything aside from school, homework, and practicing.

I'm writing to give you a short update and let you know how things are going, but also because I need some assistance.  I'm having a hard time getting enough money together each month with the expenses that come with being a music major, such as accompanists, valve oils, and music.  Another opportunity I have is to take some private lessons with Toby Oft, who is the principal trombonist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, but these things all cost money.

Time Change Adjustment

I didn't come come out with paragraphs so I'll just trying again for now. Beth is making my lunch right now and again there are will be no be no paragraphs in this update. Maybe no one has has even noticed that. I've hear from Rose and Goldman today. The sun is shining and I think Brayden is going to have perfect weather for baseball. I don't think he knows until he gets to the ballpark what position he going to play though second base is his preferred place. He really just likes to play. The Cardinals play in St. Louis tonight and I hope I can stay awake long awake enough to see that game too. I believe I've adjusted to the hours change. I didn't even hear Scott leave this morning. I've decided not to even try to make paragraphs. Does even body notice?

Election Day

It looks like it's going to be a beautiful day in Louisville. Somehow I've quit making paragraphs and I think Rose has told me how again so I want to see if I did it right. Beth is off school today because it's Election Day in Kentucky but we don't have the kids. They don't have school either. Brayden does have another baseball game this evening. He played shortstop in the game last night. He was first batter up and singled to first base and then scored the first run. After that he grounded out twice. He made some really good plays as shortstop and second base is his preferred position. There's another game tonight. I asked him what he has decided about playing on the All Star Team and I'm trying not to influence him either way, and he told me last night that he might do it. He has to decide by Friday. Will it 'ruin his summer'? They want Scott to be a coach but he won't if Brayden decides not to play on the team. I guess it would 'ruin his summer' too. Now I'm going to post to see if I'm making paragraphs.

I don't know how I did this but I thought I had deleted the one update but did have some more news in the second that I posted. Scott has supper almost ready and the boys are hungry. This will be short because I still don't know what I did what wrong about the two posts. No explanation.

Sunday in Louisville

I'm in Louisville and Rose and Shirley are in Sedona. Chris and I met Scott at the half way point in Mount Vernon, IL. Years, even before I ever knew Brick, he worked for GMAC in Mount Vernon. I'm pretty sure it as just a wide spot in the rode back then. Now it seems to be a wide spot in the Interstate. Pete made his weekly call while Chris and I ere en route and before we met up with Scott. Brother Joe celebrated his birthday at Lydia's graduation from William Jewell College in Liberty, MO. so we were lots of us traveling yesterday. Beth is in Kansas City for a wedding of a friend. Scott says she'll be home late tonight. Brayden played first base on his baseball team yesterday. He has his final soccer game of the season today. There will be another baseball game on Tuesday. Jalen pushed me to a front row seat in my wheelchair. Brayden has been selected to compete in the All Star Base Team but he's afraid if his team wins it will 'ruin his summer'. Scott has been also selected for one of the coaches but he doesn't want to do it if Brayden chooses not to. They have to decide by Friday. Brayden and Tristan are in the playroom playing video games. I don't know what time they went to bed. It was long after I went to sleep. Scott made bacon and eggs and has gone back to bed. I haven't heard from Rose yet today but I hope they're sleeping in. I don't know how long the drive from Phoenix to Sedona is. It's earlier out there. They've probably adjusted to the new time. Rose just DID call and said they had a day from hell yesterday but it was goimg to be better today.

Louisville for the Games

I've been trying to update all day and, even with Rose and Jalen assistance, finally gave up with the one I started this morning and decided to start all over again. Chris brought me half way to Louisville which was to Mt. Vernon, IL which was where Brick worked for GMAC even long before I met him. Rose and Shirley are in Sedona and had to wait an hour to get the car they rented in Phoenix and first thought their luggage had been lost in St. Louis. By the time they got settled in their room, Shirley was homesick. Brother Joe spent his birthday in Liberty, MO. celebrating his granddaughter, Lydia's's, graduation from William Jewell College. After Scott and I got here yesterday, Brayden had a baseball game. He played first base. This is not his favorite position but I was certainly proud. Scott was the of the scorekeepers. The coaches want Brayden to be one of the all star players this summer but he's afraid that if he he does it will 'ruin his summer'. They also want Scott to be one of the coaches but he doesn't want to coach if Brayden chooses not to be on the All Star Team. Today Brayden had a soccer game. Neither Scott nor Chris played soccer as kids but this was really exciting. We thought the score was 5 to 1 of which Brayden 3 but one of them hit a post and didn't count so the referee didn't give his team 5. Nevertheless, it was a great game and I could get in to it. He has another baseball game tomorrow. He and his friend are outside playing basketball right now. Scott is cooking hamburgers on the grill for dinner. Beth will be home late tonight. The grill is out by the grill and he's probably dodging balls. The soccer game coincided with the Cardinals game but we got home in time to see the Cards lose. Did you see that, Linda? Sad, wasn't it?

Leaving Tomorrow

The current plan is for Chris to take me half way to Louisville where Scott will meet us in the morning and be back to Louisville in time for Brayden's three o'clock game which is very important to both those guys. Me too. I think the games is right down the street from their house and Jalen drives me so I don't have to sit through warmup. He may have gotten past that. Perhaps he did like to take me when I was there last time because in Kentucky, even if you can't drive you have to have a valid license which I do, he is 16. He is a really good young man. I've taken a personal dislike for the Cubs. Linda likes baseball and was glad we beat them yesterday afternoon too. Petrina is coming today and I'm trying to make up for the exercycle time I missed during the haircut. I've been doing at least 20 minutes a day for quite some time. Still no humming birds. I've been meaning to ask Mad Dog if the feeder down there needs filling. He goes over occasionally from his Dad's place and makes sure every thing is in tact. Linda concocted some additional food and told Mad Dog how to attract the birds before we left.

Summer Calendar

We're adding plans for the summer and are eager to know when guests will be coming to the lake. People are always welcome and there's always room for more.

Rose and I are having our first morning coffee which always tastes so good. Chris is going to be here early Saturday morning to take me half way to Louisville were Scott will meet us. Brayden has a three o'clock game which we want to be back to Louisville for.

Petrina will be here this morning. I didn't do my 20 minutes on the exercycle yesterday because it coincided with my haircut.  My hairdresser already knew that Goldman was engaged. I guess Linda told her. I don't think any of us did.

 Rose just refilled the humming bird feeders.  The solution that was in them must have evaporated because I've been watching diligently and it hasn't been humming birds that ate the potion. She has a seed feeder that was full when I got back here on Saturda,y and it was empty this morning. I don't think those seeds evaporated. I've seen lots of birds eating there.

Sedona

It was early when I posted this morning and I left out a couple items I wanted to insert. I was remembering when Pete and Janet used to winter in Quartzite, AZ and wondering if they had ever been to Sedona so I asked them and I'm sure it was Janet who replied. It's one of the most beautiful spots in the world. They had spent a couple days there one year on one of their winters in Arizona. I originally thought Rose and Shirley were taking this trip for a Jungian conference, but they are going back on vacation. Janet also wishes all of her music students were as diligent as Rose is.  Rose practices a certain time every day.  She bought a beginner's guitar, and Shirley bought her a hard case so she could take it on trips. Since they're flying, it's pretty bulky and difficult to check. She doesn't want to give up her daily practice so she can't decide what to do--take hers or buy a cheap one in AZ and sell it back when they leave.

Haircut Today

Stephanie, our hairdresser, is coming to cut my hair this morning. She's the lady who introduced me to Linda.   Getting up and down some difficult steps at the shop can be a problem, so she comes here. 
Petrina is also coming and we've coordinated it so my hair will still be wet for the cut.  (I probably could have phrased that better but it's early in the morning.)

Chris took me out to dinner last night - to one of our favorite places down by Midwest Recovery. He and I both worked at Midwest Recovery. The place has crab cakes, and that's what I always order. This was also a Mother's Day treat.

 It's gloomy looking here in Missouri today. It looked like the Cubs were going to beat the Cards again last night, but the Cards rallied and finally beat them. Sabrina and some of her family were at the game, but I don't know if they stayed for the extra innings.

By the way, Linda did email me that they have humming bird feeders at her house. What she didn't say was whether or not they had any humming birds. Also if they do, how do they attract them in the city?

Louisville Next Week

Rain is in the forecast, and the way the Cubs beat the Cardinals yesterday it seems the foliage needs the rain more so than the Cards. An early streetwalker just passed by the front of the house with her umbrella up. We still haven't seen any more humming birds and I keep forgetting to ask Linda if she has a feeder at her house. She made some sugar solution for them at the lake for Mad Dog to refill when he checks on the place. (She was careful to label it so it wouldn't get confused with the drinking water.)

 Brother Donald called me yesterday. Things were good with him. The storms had missed them and missed their family in the Kansas City area. He wasn't sure when the family would be coming to the lake. They are busy with all their athletic activities.  I understand that.

I'm going to Louisville and not even sure which game I'm going to be seeing or which grandchild. Just looking forward to it. Scott says we have something about every night.

Rose got her new prescription for her glasses yesterday and also picked out new frames. They should be ready Friday, in time for their vacation to Sedona. I believe the current plan is for Chris to drive me to Louisville Saturday, arriving in time to watch Brayden play ball.  I'll spend the week with the Louisville Spreitler family.

We have two graduates this Spring. Lydia Berns from William Jewell College and Sam King from Troy High School. We are very proud relatives.

Monday Morning

I don't really have any news this morning.  Yesterday was a lovely Mother's Day yesterday. Jalen called me and I don't believe he was prompted. Scott called. Chris and Shelly came over with a basket of flowers which I will take to the lake house.  (I haven't had my first cup of coffee yet. It's still brewing.)

Rose is getting a new prescription for glasses this morning.  She took me last Friday to pick up my new glasses, which are a big help.

I'm looking forward to the Cubs versus Cardinals games this evenings.  Tomorrow night too. Chris and I are going out for dinner tomorrow evening. Petrina will be back this morning

Lost Humming Bird

Rose saw a humming bird in her feeder, and we believe he was just lost. The feeder I use at the lake was one that Rose had used here at the Barnard College house with no luck.  Last summer Goldman and I used this very one and they swarmed.  Stephanie, our hairdresser, gave it to us.  I'm so thankful for the feeder and that she also introduced me to Linda.  I will soon need a haircut, and I'll thank her again.

 I talked to both Pete and Janet yesterday. Their kids had something planned for Mother's Day.  I think Pete's weekly call suffices for emails.  He lets Janet do the typing.

Rose gave a presentation on Jungian Psychology Friday for counselors at the Community College. She and Shirley are going to Sedona, Arizona, next Saturday for a week of vacation. I'm going over to Louisville and stay with Scott and Beth while they are gone.  I hope Brayden and Jalen have games while I'm there.

Mother's Day Eve

I'm back in St. Louis and Rose and I rushed right over and got my new glasses. I still catch myself squinting and trying to see with one eye shut but the new glasses sure make a difference. There haven't been any humming birds in the feeders so maybe they just don't like the city life. Sis is thoroughly disgusted with them. She followed Linda's recipe and has watched diligently but hasn't seen a single one. That's what I'm doing when I'm not typing - not birdwatching but watching for birds. Does that make sense? It does to me. It's Saturday and I'm waiting for Pete and Janet to call. They usually get up early. Chris and Goldman are going to do something with me this morning to celebrate Mother's Day. I'm not sure what or where. More Later.

Back to St. Louis

I have to go back to St. Louis today and I'm dreading it but also looking forward to getting my new glasses this evening. Linda and I went out for dinner last night to Ruthie D's, s place that I've been going to since they opened up. We only go on rare occasions but our waitress remembered what we liked and gave us our regular table. We must make quite an impression. I haven't heard from Rose yet this morning. As soon as I arrive this afternoon, we are going to pick up my new glasses. I hope I can see with both eyes open when I get them. It's overcast and the humming birds haven't been out as much as on sunny days. There was a murder in Marshfield yesterday and Brother Joe wasn't sure but thought one of the Andreatta guys was the attending policeman. I'll watch for more on the news.

Planning the Summer

I've talked to John in Kansas today and he's going to get together with Jana to see when they can stay longest and when I have the best time available. Linda and I worked on the calendar today. I left a message for Sabrina but haven't heard back yet. Chris won't be here for Memorial Day but will be the following weekend. I'm still looking for someone to fill in when no one else is here. Linda is super but has a St. Louis family and her Shaklee sales. She and I have to go back to St. Louis day after tomorrow and I'm already dreading it. It's hot outside but with the air conditioner fixed, it's okay out of the sun. Linda doesn't like my trying to sun bathe. So I don't. It's not like the old days.

Lake Morning

Linda planted the flowers and took the pictures and forwarded the pictures to Rose who posted them. Aren't they beautiful? I sat in my chair and watched the humming birds. They eat often and quickly. She and I watched the Cardinals lose last night. She did some laundry and asked me where my iron was. My response was "I'm not sure I have one.' Later in the evening when I was talking to Rose I ask her if she knew where I kept my iron and her answer was almost the same. "i'm not sure you have one and what do you want it for?" She's still green with envy about the humming birds and I believe Linda sent her the google recipe for food. Remember last year when Sis bought a rain gauge and it didn't rain. Hope it rains this year when we're not here to water these beautiful plants. The new neighbor brought me over a peanut bagel this morning. They are from Illinois and seem very nice. They are leaving today but I believe she said will be back Memorial Day which is at an odd time of the week this year. Brayden had a game last night but I haven't heard what position he played or if his team won or lost. The exterminator is working next door and I overheard him saying ants and termites. We've seen ants but no sign of any termites, thank goodness. I think there must be some pollen in the air because there's a residue on the outside tables and Rose says they have it outside at their house, too.

Flowers Are Planted

Linda got the flowers planted. Mad Dog brought over some additional potting soil and assisted her in the planting. She's making hamburgers for supper and made chocolate chip cookies for us to snack on. I had an omelet for breakfast and tunafish salad sandwich for lunch. I go along with the humming birds and really like her cooking too. She is really good to me. It's hot here but it was nice to be outside for a while this morning. I was sure glad they got the air conditioner repaired when the sun hit the back side of the house and I came in. I didn't bring ant shorts but Rose said she brought them up from the basement this weekend while I've been gone. Linda and I are going back to St. Louis Friday. My new eyeglasses are ready and it's Mother's Day this Sunday. I'm going to Louisville on the 16th and Rose and Shirley are going to Arizona. I'm not sure how long Rose and Shirley will be in Arizona. More on all that later. Linda can't come for the rest of May. Does anyone want to come this weekend or the following week or weekend? I have to pick up my eyeglasses and may have a doctor appointment. Will update about that later.

Pleasant Morning

Linda and I are sitting on the deck enjoying this beautiful morning. I got the air conditioner fixed yesterday which was an expense I wasn't anticipating and they are going to finish with the de-winterizing of the boat in the next day or two. Another expense I thought I had already taken care of. Linda got the plants for the flower pots and Mad Dog is going to assist her in planting them today. She made me an omelet for breakfast and we sat on the deck an ate. I think she hears me get up. I try to be quiet and come downstairs in the morning but it never works. Like Rose, she won't let me wander around by myself. I've seen numerous humming birds this morning and a wood pecker took a drink at one point. Linda is going to email her recipe for food which she got off google. I'm still looking for some one to fill in when Linda can't be here or I don't have other company. HUMMINGBIRD FEEDER AT THE LAKE

Sue and Linda put the hummingbird feeder out on the lake deck this morning and already have birds flocking to it.  We have had our out here at home for three weeks and have had about five birds so far.  Bah Hummingbird!

Monday

Everyone has left except Linda and me. The cleaning lady has arrived and Mad Dog is coming back at noon. Yesterday was the hottest day on record this year and when we turned the air conditoner unit on, it wasn't working. I called the regular company and he's coming out this afternoon for a service call. Hope it's not too expensive. Did someone accidentally take my phone charger this weekend? We can't find it. Rose says they're not very expensive at the dollar store. Linda hung the humming bird feeder this morning and we've lost track of how many birds we've counted. Now she's trying to catch a picture of one eating. We've made out our grocery list and menu. Did any of you watch the Cardinal/Cubs game last night? I thought it was over and started up upstairs and Linda said "you're going to bed now?" And we won at the last minute.

Saturday at the Lake

It's cool this morning but supposed to warm up later in the day. I rode down yesterday with Doug and Groves and Josie and one of her girlfriends, Mad Dog was here when we arrived. Suz and Lukas and one of his friends are coming today. We stopped and ate on the way down in Jefferson City and then ran into an awful traffic backup. Doug took a shortcut which turned out to be a long cut. It was an accident we could't avoid. I think I learned some new words. Everyone is still sleeping but Mad Dog gets up and gets my coffee and checks on me occasionally. As usual, I'm up first. I figured the fishermen would be out early but they're not so far. I've got the phone by me for Pete's Saturday call. The boat is ready to go and Doug is going to get the wave runner de-winterized. I'm not sure if the pool is open yet. It's been cool. The home owners meeting is Sunday and Doug is going to go with me. I think I'm the only original homeowner in the association. I don't even know a lot of the current owners now so it will it be interesting. I'll see if anyone wants to buy Dave and Liz's wave runners.

Back to the Lake

As usual, I'm awake early, waiting for that first cup of coffee.  Joe called yesterday and told me our dad was ten years older than Mother and was born on August 4, 1986.   Brick was much older than me, and I was a bit older than Denny.

I talked with my old neighbor from Springfield yesterday. Sam is still working lots of hours at the Bass Pro Shop.  They will be coming to the Lake toward the end of June.   Chase, Leslie's son, has been professionally photographing 5K races around the USA.   Leslie will go with him to one in the state of Washington next month to see Jeff, her other son, and his girls.

 Petrina is coming this morning.   Rose will help me pack for the lake.  Shirley has to go to the dentist.  I am looking forward to time at the lake.

Mother's 108th Birthday

Shirley got back last night.  Rose picked her up at the airport while I fell asleep on the sofa.  I was sound asleep when they came back from from the airport.  Today would have been Mother's 108th Birthday.  We used to give May Baskets when we were kids.  Do kids do that anymore?  Does anyone know when Dad's Birthday was?  Neither Rose nor I do.

It's cold here in Missouri today but the forecast is for warmer weather come the week.  Linda is coming down to the lake to be with me Sunday after the Hollensbes are there for the weekend.  The boat is supposed to finally get de-winterized before we arrive tomorrow.  I'm riding down with some of the group that's coming this weekend.

Petrina is coming today.  Again I'll do my regular shower exercises and shower.  Sis was up today and had the coffee ready when I got out of bed.

I'll let Rose finish this.  She talked to Sabrina this morning.

Rose with an update about Margaret.  She had to have some of the troublesome hardware removed from her ankle Tuesday.  It was an outpatient procedure, and she is doing well.

Just A Wednesday

As usual, I'm awake early.  Shirley will get home this evening.  I'm not sure what time and Rose isn't up yet so I can't ask her.  Scott's wife's young cousin died in Kansas City, and Beth went to the funeral.  The cousin was at the wedding and I guess they were very close.  She was quite ill then.  Beth flew to Kansas City for the funeral so can't stop to see us on her way home,

Rose just got up and is making our first coffee.  She and I went out for dinner last night. It's 43 degrees outside this morning and there are storms in the forecast but a nice weekend predicted.  I saw the first humming bird of the season yesterday but only one and he didn't stay long.

The yearly meeting of the homeowners at the lake is Sunday, and Doug is going to accompany me.  He and his family are coming down.  Groves may come too.  Linda can come most of the week and I'm hoping someone can be there the following weekend.

Glasses ready in a Week

We're back from leaving my eye glasses prescription filled and the young man saved me over $100.00 by advising me to use a pair of my old frames.  The new lens in the old frames will be ready in about a week.  We took a couple pair of old ones I had kept and he advised me these were better quality.

It's just about time for Petrina and my exercises.  Rose and I stopped at Starbucks on our way back from ordering the glasses.

I seem to have misplaced the pad that goes in my wheelchair.  We've checked in the garage and in Rose's car and haven't found it.  There are several places it could be.  If anyone who remembers my being in their car, would you mind looking before I buy another one?  I can still use this one meanwhile.  I try to walk as much as I can.

Rose's client just arrived and Petrina are getting ready to for our walk.  Send some news.

New Glasses

Rose is taking me to get my glasses prescription filled this morning and Petrina is coming while Rose sees clients.  While Rose and I were at the eye examination, we accidentally left her iphone.  They called to tell us on my phone and told me "The young woman with you left her iphone",  I wanted to tell them they had the wrong number.  By the time we turned around and got back to retrieve her phone, it was too late to make it to get to the fancy pedicure place so Goldman took me took our regular place, and Linda will take me on our way to the lake some time.  I needed one.

That Chicago condo is finally sold.  Such a relief.  I'm not sure when the closing dates or anything  but I do know that several people are saving boxes.  I'll let Rose fill in as she finds out more.  This just was finalized yesterday.

Again, I'm up early.  The Cardinals were tied when I fell asleep and I haven't checked to see who won.  My window is open and it seems to have turned cooler in the night.

Eye Doctor Appointment

I'm awake early and trying to  keep very quiet so as not to awaken Sis.  I think it stormed last night but Shirley got to New Orleans without much delay.  We had some storm here but it passed before bedtime.  I have an eye doctor appointment this afternoon and Rose and I may pick up bedding plants on our way back home.  Depending on the weather, she may plant them.  I don't believe she has any clients scheduled.  Patrina is coming early since we have to leave early.

I thought I needed s pair of solid black shoes and the brown ones I had been wearing were fine.  We took a good look at the brown ones and saw they were wore out.  In looking in my closet, Rose found I had good black ones and also a pair of walking shoes and I don't need to get shoes right now.   We threw the brown ones away.  Goldman is taking me to my birthday pedicure on Wednesday.

Rose and I both went to take Shirley to the airport yesterday.  They don't like leaving me alone.  I assure them that I won't get up and mosey around but they're still uncomfortable about my even going downstairs on the stair lift in the morning.

Sunday in St. Louis

Chris and Shelly brought dinner last night and visited with me while Rose and Shirley went to a meeting and dinner for the Jung Society.  It was pot roast with potatoes and carrots.  They also brough belated birthday cupcakes from my favorite bakery for dessert.  Between Shirley and Shelley, they're determined to pork me up.  Petrina and Linda help.

Chris and Shelly also brought me a belated birthday present.  It's some horehound candy that they bought when they were in Colorado.  Shelly told him this wasn't a very appropriate gift to give his mother.  I have a picture at the lake house entitled 'woman with a checkered past'.  The candy seems to go with that painting.  When we were kids, we would get horehound candy.  So did Scott and Chris when they were young.  I believe he still likes it, even though the package was still sealed so he hadn't sampled it.

Shirley is flying to New Orleans today until Wednesday.  Rose has a meeting this afternoon.  I'm going to watch the Cardinals.

The pot roast dinner that Shelly made last night was delicious.  When I was about half way through eating, she asked me how I liked it.  I told her I thought it was very good.  She had marinated it and then cooked it in her crock pot and then after a while added the vegetables.  Then she told me the meat was venison and asked if I could tell it from beef.  I couldn't.  She didn't remember that I'd lived with Janet and Pete that year and Janet cooked a lot of deer meat so deliciously, and I don't believe there were crock pots in 1960.

Saturday Morning in St. Louis

Rose and I are both up.  She brought coffee to my room.  As the kids used to say, we were frue sleepin'.  Sometimes they didn't have their nap out.  I usually wake up first and try to be quiet so I don't wake them.  Rose sets my computer up in my room at night and has bought me a commode so I don't wander around when I wake up first in the morning.  She and Shirley have to go to a meeting  tonight so they're having Shelly come stay with me.  I don't think that's necessary but they do.

Pete just called.  Still cold in Idaho.  He hadn't talked to Brother Joe yet today.  He had been doing some work on his garden but has to wait until after last frost to do lots more.  Mad Dog is still with his Dad.  I'm not sure if the boat is de-winterized yet but don't think so.   Doug and Suzanne are bringing the kids next weekend, and the kids will want to ride in it and Doug will want to fish.

Wave Runners

My friends haven't sold those wave runners yet and would like to sell them, with the aluminum trailer, before they move out of Chesterfield.  It's begun to be the season for boats and wave runners at the lake and I've seen several while I've been there.  Dave knows more about them than Liz and his email address is dprange01@charter.net

The wave runners come with a double aluminum trailer.  Dave is more knowledgable about them than Liz and would perhaps be more willing to sell for a lesser price than the $3000.00.

Friday Morning

Sunshiny day today but rain is in the forecast.  Cardinals have a day game and I'm hoping they do better than they did yesterday.  Donald called me yesterday.  I heard from all my siblings among others with birthday greetings.  Vita and Donald had been in Florida and called yesterday and Brother Joe's belated card arrived on the 24th, so I know they were anyway thinking of me.  Linda gave me an appointment for a pedicure and Goldman is going to take me next week Wednesday for it.  It's out in Chesterfield, and we were going to go today but he would rather go then.  It was very thoughtful of Linda.  She came over for a visit and brought the gift.

There's no wind blowing and I've not seen any humming birds on our feeder.  There are lots of squirrels up and about.  Petrina is coming this morning to assist me in showering and exercising.  She comes Monday through Friday.  I ride the exercycycle at least 20 minutes, among other things.  She still stays 4 hours.  I've put this in before but am adding it again.

Spring Has Arrived

I had a great birthday lots of emails and steak dinner.  Patrina came every day and is coming back tomorrow.  She helps me with my showering and exercise and workout and she and I get along very well.  Patrina is my other assistant who you read in this Gazette about.  Rose and Shirley work nearly full time so I need some help in assisting me.  They are all so good that I can't thank them enough.

Spring seems like it finally arrived.  Pete said they did have some snow there yesterday.  We didn't.  Just a beautiful couple of days.  I have an eye doctor appointment this Monday and will probably have to new glasses.  I haven't been wearing glasses since i had my cataracts removed but probably still need them.  I don't think my insurance pays for them.

The Cardinals lost today but play again tomorrow.  Linda is also a Cardinal fan and she and I watch the games and the Cardinals aren't doing very well.  We still have  hope, though.

I'm going to have Rose post this picture of Brayden as pitcher.  I think soccer is his favorite sport but baseball is mine.  Scott is one of his coaches this year and soccer was one game played while I was visiting there.  I'm going to be sure to  go back during the season.

Sleeping Later

I'm the only one in the house up so far and Rose has set me up with the computer  so I keep quiet.  I go to bed earlier but tend to get up first.  She and Shirley worry if I wander around the house.  I'm sitting on the edge of my bed with my computer on this table got for me doing this entry.  I do this quite often.

I haven't heard if Dave and Liz have sold their wave runners.  When Liz and I worked at GMAC, she came over to pick me up to take me somewhere and there was a note on my front door, 'The Meanest Mother in Maryland Heights Lives HERE'.  Seems I angered some partying kids.

Rose just got up.  More later.

Brother Bob's Favorite Story

We need some feedback to let us know the Gazette is more entertaining.  I sometimes think I've erased what I have tediously so typed in but Rose helps me find I haven't and I'm greatly relieved.  Everyone is taken with Face Book but I still prefer AOL.  Keep me on MarthaBoaz@aol.com.  (I may have put that in wrong but if you get it in right, you don't have to do it again.)

When we were kids, Mom took us to Kansas to see Uncle Bud and Aunt Lois.  Before they moved to Kansas they had lived 'on the hill' us and we often visited them.  In the car on the trip, we didn't have video games to play, we counted cows out the windows.  Brother Bob, who is now dead, loved this story also lived in Kansas.  When we got to Bud and Lois's place, I was sent by myself to the door to see if they'd recognize me.  Uncle Bud answered the door, looked me over. I waited a minute, and told him who I was.  He responded "Why, you used to be such a pretty little thing."  Then he hesitated and looked some more and said.  "Well, your hair's still pretty."

Back in St. St. Louis

I'm back now in St. Louis and have been working on my exercise.  Taking a break and cooling off.  Griped all winter about the cold weather and now upset about about the heated weather.  Petrina is here today and we did my exercises.  Rose is at a guitar lesson and Shirley is seeing clients.

Again I want to tell some stories from raising my sons.  Goldman always liked to eat dinner at our house.  I oft times made breakfast for supper and he  liked that.  He was going to eat with us one night and I always made the boys pray.  Before we ate, Scott came in and said to me, "Don't pray, Mom, He's Jewish, you know."  I don't know what he thought that meant.  Also, I don't remember if we prayed that night.  Goldman is getting married on July 28, and I feel like the other mother of the groom.

I asked Brayden if they prayed before they ate and he said only when you're here.

Tales From Raising The Kids

Again. I've been wanting to make this Gazette more interesting and am remembering from raising my children.  After Brick died and before I married Denny when they didn't have a babysitter, they used to call me at work all the time to tattle on each other.  Chris would especially tattle on Scott with Scott being the older of the two.  Chris would call me and say "Scott's starting to fight".  I would tell him it takes two people to fight.  He would tell me that one could just be standing there and the other could start fighting.  They have quit doing that.

We're heading back to St, Louis shortly.  It's raining.

You Can Learn From Your Off Spring

I've been reading older entries and there were some really interesting and funny stories from the past in here.  Chris has been watching a movie that I couldn't get interested in so I searched the past.  A lot of it is captured in this Gazette.  I'm hoping more will be.

I was at Scott's last weekend and a man came and hauled some brush out of his backyard.        It was a beautiful day and I was sitting on Scott's front porch.  There were some rotten looking boards long side his driveway and as the man left I yelled "You missed some".  I talked to Scott today and asked if the guy came back.  The guy told me he'd be back on Thursday. Scott said  he hadn't been back yet.  I asked Scott if he'd paid him because he looked like he needed money. Scott replied "How does someone look that needs money? He's been cutting my grass for three years and bills me once a month.  I think he'll be back. I think I can trust him.

When my boys were home and did the mowing we had a front yard and a back yard.  There was always an argument about which was front and which was back.

I'm getting ready to go to bed pretty soon.  Mad Dog's Dad's friend, Willie's wife died so Mad Dog didn't come back today.  Willie is a great friend to the Dad.  I think she had an aneurysm.

Problems with AOL

Saturday morning and right now it's just Chris and myself.  Mad Dog will be back sometime today.  Linda left yesterday with us well supplied food cooked for the weekend.  I'm waiting for Brother Pete's weekly call and haven't talked to Rose yet.

I'm having trouble with AOL getting my emails and have messed it up so badly I may change from AOL.  Is anything else free?  I'm not sure what they think I'm trying to accomplish but I'm just trying to get my emails and now have to wait 24 hours.  I don't want to change so I'll see what happens at 4 this afternoon.

Chris got up and made coffee and went back to bed.  I'll let him sleep a while longer.  Now I've talked to Rose.  She's in Chicago and has an appointment to list the condo at one this afternoon.  She got there yesterday and spent 2 hours of heavy cleaning after the long drive up from St. Louis.

Chris is Coming

It looks like it will finally be spring today.  Chris is coming tonight and Mad Dog is coming today,  We have new neighbors who had a hot tub installed yesterday and they arrived yesterday.  Linda said they were up late but I didn't hear a thing.  There's been a run down shack across the cove which they finally tore down and are building something and only work on on bad weather days.  We don't know what it's going to be but hope it's not much more traffic in the cove.

Rose is on her way to Chicago today.  I don't think it's going to be as warm there as it is here.  Linda is also a Cardinal fan and we watch the games no matter who they are playing.

Holy Week

It's taken me all day to get on the computer and retrieve my password and email address ban I finally got it.  Linda is cooking a pork tenderloin for dinner.  She made a beef tenderloin last night with some lemon bars and other stuff.  She is so good to me.

Brother Joe came up yesterday after day noon for a visit.  He didn't stay for long because son David was needing to borrow his van for something.  He couldn't stay for supper.  Mad Dog came over while he was here for a short visit and will be back in the morning to stay with me until Ding arrives.  They'll all uncomfortable about my staying alone.

Rose is driving up to Chicago tomorrow to list the Condo.  Shirley was going to accompany her but changed her mind.  When Rose and Shirley originally moved down from there, Rose and I rented 2 U UHauls and hauled loads of stuff down to St. Louis.  I was much better then than I am now.  I have a picture of the two of us and the trucks setting on my mantel.

I talked to Leslie this week (Or emailed her)  and invited her up but it's Holy Week and she's going to church quite often.  Joe, Linda's husband, has to sing almost every day.

Wednesday

Rose called me yesterday evening as she was on her way to the Apple store to retrieve her repaired computer.  It had been 'underneath repair' since Saturday and she missed it very much.  She was using her ipad for lots of communication.  What did we do 'back in 'the old days?'  Verbal communication which was more costly and still harder to accomplish.

We found a cleaning lady who will work cheap and when we need her.  She lives nearby and is coming at nine this morning.  Linda has gone up to get in the shower so she'll be ready for her.  Rose says that I should let Linda tell her what to do because I'm too easy on people.  Linda does a lot  for me.  This woman. whose name is Caroline, said this place is a lot cleaner than a lot of places she cleans.  I'll see how she does.

Linda and I went to Ruthie D''s for dinner last night.  I had a delicious steak and ate the whole thing.  Linda has a pork tenderloin marinating right and will convert it to BBQ pork.

Rose just called.  I forgot to ask her if she just got up but I'm sure she's having her coffee.  She's going to Chicago Friday to put that condo on the market and returning Sunday or Monday.  She's not sure yet.

We watched the Cards win last night and it's a day game today.  I emailed Brayden and asked him why they all had number 42 but he had either gone to bed or was ignoring me.  I'll see today.

Tuesday Morning

I've talked to Rose this morning and her computer is still in the shop and she is extremely irritated with the Apple store.  Her IPAD is her main method of communication and she says it's more difficult than her other computer.  I don't know because I don't have an IPAD nor do I want one.  I would be lost without my computer and cellphone.

Linda and I watched the Cardinal game last night and plan to do so tonight.  She made a great dinner of meatloaf, mashed, green beans, with chocolate chip cookies for dessert.  We had some snowflakes yesterday and the computer said it got down to 30 last night but it will be better today.

Brother Joe sent an email that I'm sure everyone will enjoy but I don't know to forward it to the Gazette so I sent it to Rose to do it.

Jalen and Granny

Spring?//

I'm at the lake already after Scott brought me half way and Chris met me the other half to get back home from Louisville yesterday and spending the night in St. Louis.  When  I got up yesterday morning at Scott's, I saw a man looking up in one of his trees.  The pine tree, not the mimosa.  I asked Beth what was he doing.  Their neighbors have a pet parrot and it had escaped and they were trying to retrieve it.  Other neighbors assisted but Scott says the few mornings he has off - once was a horse and now it's a parrot.  He was sure they would get it without his help - and they did.

It's a dismal dreary day.  Joe (Linda's husband) picked me up after he dropped their daughter off at work.  He's never met Shirley and was a bit early today hoping catch her but 'maybe next time.'  She had to go to the doctor, something about her finger.  They were in Branson for Tom and Lydia's first anniversary this weekend.  They stopped at Marshfield and had an ice cream at Culver's on the way back.  I guess Miss Muzzy's has closed.  The Marshfield Mail is still there.  Remember, Margaret used to work here.

Linda is also a Cardinal fan and we're looking forward to some games this week.  I've invited Brother Joe to come up whenever he isn't busy but haven't heard back from him.   Springfield has a minor league team and Brayden told me they're good too.  I think Joe likes them also.

Mad Dog had contacted the company who winterizes and dewintertizes the boat before I even knew about knew it and while I was just worrying about it.  Doug takes care of the wave runner.  The boat's ready to go.  Just looking forward to good weather.

Back To Missouri Tomorrow

I've been reading back over old entries and talked with Scott over them and the Gazette has already settled one argument.  I thought I broke my ankle in 2008.  He said it wasn't. As usual he was right. It was 2010.  I did notice in my poring over the past that we were much more newsy.  I'll try to be so in the future.

Ding is meeting Scott and Jalen and me at he half way to Missouri tomorrow.  I'm sure Jalen isn't going with us because he wants to spend time with his Granny.   He is 16 and has a driver's license but has to have a licensed driver with him for a period of time to drive by himself.  I remember that I lived with Pete and Janet in Idaho because you could drive at 15 the year I turned 15 so and I don't know if I even had a Granny.  I just wanted to drive.

Beth and Scott made brisket, broccoli, and potatoes for dinner.  Tristan had dinner with  us and I believe is spending the night again.  The boys are wanting to shoot fireworks but it's illegal in Kentucky to shoot fireworks.  Brayden told him he's seen them.  Scott replied those were in Indiana.  I suggested we go there but Scott didn't think that was a good idea.

'Patience'

I've already talked to Pete and Rose this morning.  It's a beautiful day here in Louisville with lots of robins flying around in the frond yard.  I'm disappointed that there are no baseball or soccer games today but Brayden has a friend staying overnight and they're still sleeping after staying awake until long after I did.  They may rather rest right now.

I don't think we have any plans for today.  Beth has already been grocery shopping and back.  I thought they would both sleep much later but I guess they were rested.  Beth is going to give me a hand in the shower in a few minutes so I might cut this short.

Again this this morning, my computer wasn't responding exactly as I wanted or expected and I guess I just wasn't 'patient' because here I am.  I did get it to respond and Brayden still isn't up.

Friday in Louisville

Friday in Louisville.  I missed Scott, Beth, and Brayden, but my helper was here when I got up.  I slept right through their departure and her arrival.  Her name is Connie and she's from Ghana.  Her Mother is still over there and she said she's 91 and 'old like me'.   Connie is great help.  Next time I'm coming to Louisville and need an assistant, I'm going to ask for her again,

I was having trouble with my computer yesterday.  Brayden helped me with it and explained I wasn't patient enough with it.  He had baseball practice last night and Scott took took him.  Jalen drove me.   I don't think we have any games scheduled but I'm hoping we hoping we have both boys today.

Rose and I have already talked this morning.  Scott has a beautiful magnolia tree in his front yard.  I don't believe it was losing leaving when I first arrived but is now.  I asked him if the mower chopped them up but he said more just fell.  Do magnolias bloom?  I meant to ask Rose if she knew but I forgot.

I had an email from Janet and, as I suspected, she's the one who does the emailing.  Pete's busy with his volunteer work and getting the yard ready.

'Company Car'

I think I've adjusted to the time change.  I was awake before Beth and Brayden left and of course when my helper arrived.  I had been on St. Louis time earlier in my arrival and sleeping through everything.

There's some good news to post.  The 'company car' was at a Lexus dealership in Denver and Rose was unsure about what to do with it. Along came a mechanic at the dealer who needed a car for his daughter who was going off to college in the fall who offered to buy it.  This was much to Rose's relief and his delight.  This solved her quandary and probably his also.  I'll miss it a lot even though I can't drive.

The Cardinals won last night.  They were tied when Brayden and I went to bed but when I got up he already knew they had won it 7 to 5.  I'm not sure what time the game is today.  I'll look it up later or wait for Brayden to tell me.  Linda and I are going to the lake next Monday.  I'm not sure how I'm getting back to St. Louis but I'll get there.  Linda is a  Cardinal fan too.  I'm really hoping the weather finally turns to spring.

Tuesday in Louisville

I've had trouble with the computer all day and had to wait until Brayden got home from school and helped me to get on line.  He was very patient.  He is working on his homework right now.  There won't be soccer practice tonight and there was supposed to be baseball practice tonight too, but it may storm even more.  We're not sure if that's going to be.  We will all be disappointed.  Brayden plays second base and Scott is one of the coaches.

I was still sleeping when my companion came this morning.  I did stay up and see the Cardinals win last night, but had to go to bed and missed Josie winning again on the NBAA.  I was also glad it was a female again, too.  I sleep well here and don't hear either Scott or Beth leave in the morning.  I haven't got to see Jalen yet and am looking forward to that.

Beth just walked in from work and Scott and Brayden went to see if there is going to be practice.

Monday in Louisville

Scott just got home from work.  He and Beth are going grocery shopping as soon as she gets home from work.  The Cardinals are playing their opener in St. Louis today in St. Louis today and it's raining here, but I guess it's not raining in St. Louis because it looks like they're set to play.

The companion is the same one I've had before.  I was still sleeping for a while after Scott and Beth both left and she arrived.  . I think she's the same assistant I've had before and she thinks so too, but Scott and Beth believe it's someone else.  Anyway, she was really good.  Her name is Connie.

We won't have Brayden or Jalen this evening but will tomorrow.  The yard man was supposed to come today but it's much too wet so he may come tomorrow.  The front yard is okay but the back is much bigger and needs the work.  They have a beautiful magnolia tree in the front yard.

Scott just told me the Cardinal game is delayed because of the weather.  Beth just came in the back door.  I type slowly.  Now the game has started.  I've talked to Rose and to Mark Spreitler both today.  Brayden hasn't said much about his ski trip except he does want to do it again.  He slept on the way home on Saturday and had Austin spend the night Saturday night.

Wave Runners and the Trailer

I talked to Dave yesterday and they will sell both the wave runners and the aluminum trailer for $3000, but would like to sell them before they move.  They would like to see some one using them.  They are in Chesterfield.  Anyone interested, please call Dave and talk to him about them.

Price of Wave Runners Polaris

Scott and Brayden have gone off to the batting cages this this morning.  Doug's Mother won one of the NCAA tournament cash amounts.  All us women were glad a woman won because men always seem to know so much more about sports than women.  I just think it happens to be luck.

For those of those readers who are interested in the wave runners, I talked to Dave yesterday and he would like to get $3000.00 for them but would sell them for less.  He and Liz are moving and they have no place to keep them at their new place. She is retiring and he was self employed.  He (both of them) would love to see someone get as much enjoyment and use as they have of them.  The units are in Chesterfield and you can see by the pictures they are in good shape.  Dave did say they may need batteries.  Call him if you want to go take a look.  Make him an offer.  They would like to sell them before they move.  Again, their phone number is 636-532-0522.

Louisville

I'm in Louisville with Scott and Brayden having arrived this morning in time for Brayden to play in his soccer game.  We left St. Louis before the sun came up and just shortly after Chris and Shelly got him back from Colorado.  Scott drove over from Louisville after work yesterday and barely laid his head down when it was time to get up.  Brayden's team did loose but he scored their only goal and I got to see it.

I had poor reception on my cell phone when Pete called and he was at a garden shop when I called back but I got to talk to Janet and things were good in Idaho.   Beth is in Kansas City helping her 94 year old grandmother move into a home she has bought.  She has been living in an assisted living facility but is going to be on her own.  She can still drive.  Jalen is in Florida with friends and will be home tomorrow.  Spring break will be over on Monday and they will have to be back in school.

Chris and Shelly rented a car and they're having the Lexus towed back to St. Louis.  That's as far as I know.  I'm staying here in Louisville until next weekend.  We have a company similar to Martha's Hands who will spend some time with me during the day.

Dinner for Margaret's Birthday

We met the Abbotts for dinner last evening to celebrate Margaret's birthday.  Our server at Macaroni Bar and Grill remembered us from prior celebrations, and we had lovely service.  We sat for over two hours and some (myself included) have takeovers for lunch today.  The Abbotts couldn't all make it and we missed those we weren't there.  We vowed to do this more often.  They are such a caring and loving bunch.

Chris and Shelly and Brayden are renting a car and driving back from Colorado today.  I'm not sure what's going to happen with the 'company car' which is at a Lexus dealer in Denver.  Chris's Acura is sitting outside our house and it runs like a top still.  Scott is driving over from Louisville to pick up Brayden in time for his game on Saturday.  As I learn more I'll update.

Safe in University City

There was a tornado in University City night last but we were safe.  The sirens did awaken us, but we did go back to sleep--after a 30 minute early morning prayer meeting downstairs.   Our U-Verse television and internet went out last evening, so we were fat, dumb, and happy about the weather warnings.  We finally got computer service by piggybacking on our wonderful neighbor's service, but we don't have television yet.  (We lost television during the Cardinal game but it got rained out there anyway.)

The visit with Dr. Hogan went as usual.  He said to come back in six months, sooner in case anything changes.  We left the medicines as they are.  None of that trial med stuff that gave me such trouble when Hogan and the drug company abruptly ended it.  How that stuff ever won FDA approval is beyond us.

We're meeting the Abbotts for dinner tonight to celebrate Margaret's birthday.  I hope they can all make it.  Chris and Shelly and Brayden are still in Colorado and can't be there.  Scott is in Louisville and Beth is spending spring break with her grandmother in Kansas City, but we will represent the rest of this family.

Petrina is coming again today.  She exercises much harder than I do and inspires me to do more.  She also jumps in and does other  things around the house.  She is a true delight.

Another update.  Chris is consulting with Doug Hollensbee about options for Rose's Lexus.   Doug is going to get more information on possibilities for repair.

Correction on Wave Runners - Polaris

Dave wanted to make sure all the information on the Jet Skis for sale is correct. They were stored inside on the trailer until about two years ago when they were covered with a very heavy tarp outside. Dave thinks they may need batteries since they haven't been used since his sons left home.  Dave and Liz have sold their home in Chesterfield and their grandchildren aren't old enough to use them. They are both retiring.  I worked with Liz at GMAC (so did Brick), and Dave is self employed.

One of the units is 1999 Polaris  with a 130 horsepower motor  and the other unit is a 1996 Polaris with a 100 horsepower motor.

There is only one trailer and it is a tandem wave-runner trailer made from aluminum (someone spent a lot of money on).  Dave would sell them with or without the trailer.

Dave needed to correct me.  I hope he did so.  They will be moving and would like see someone get some fun and use out of them as they did.

Nothing broken

An Update

Rose is taking me to Dr. Hogan, the neurologist, this afternoon, for a checkup and to get my prescriptions refilled.  Again yesterday I did over five miles on the exercycle and not  quite as far as around the block but all the way down the alley and back.  In total it was nearly 1000 steps on my fit bit for the day.  I'm sure the doctor is going to be pleased.

There's good news and bad news also.  Chris and Shelly were going to buy Rose's Lexus and took it with Brayden to Mark's place in Colorado for his spring break.  The Lexus quit somewhere outside Denver and they had AAA tow it to the nearest Lexus dealer. The dealer gave them a loaner and they proceeded.  This was on Saturday.   The car is a 2001, and Rose had kept it in really good shape.  It may not be and probably isn't worth fixing.  They are in a quandary right now and will probably have to rent a car to get home.  At this point, we are also in a quandary.

I think I posted wrong about Donald's family skiing in Colorado.  They went skiing in Taos, N.M.  I didn't know you ski in N.M.

Petrina is coming today.  I had others but she's become my favorite and gives me much encouragement.  She knew about the Family Gazette but didn't know how to get on it.  I showed her yesterday.

April Fool 's Day

It was the opening day of baseball season and the Cardinals beat Cincinnati.  Already today our team has a day off.  The home opener is some time next week.  I'm the only one up so far this morning, but Sis will probably have coffee ready before I finish.

I completed a walk all the way around the block plus 25 minutes on the exercycle and 1200 steps on my fit bit yesterday.  This was with Petrina's encourgement and assistance.  This is the first time I had done this in a while.  Petrina is coming again today and I'll see what I can so.

I hace an appointment with Dr. Hogan, the neurologist, tomorrow at 2.  On Thursday we are meeting some of the Abbotts for a dinner to celebrate Margaret's birthday.   We'll post photos.
